Glad I'm Not a Knicks Fan

I'm seeing there is another "report" out there that the Knicks will buy out Larry Brown's contract for around 40 million dollars. Again, if it's labeled a "report", please don't fault the media if the information ends up being wrong, it's only a "report", not an actual news story. Just replace the word report with the word rumor and you'll be fine.

As for Larry and the Knicks, let me get this straight.

You're a great coach but only win 1 NBA championship. You don't get to the finals the next year and were planning to quit either way. You get hired by a horrific team in hopes to turn the franchise around, even in your declining health. They give you a $50-60 mill contract, prompting you to immediatley buy your own private island in the Galapagos (ok, i made that up). Your boss trades for a disgruntled, ego-driven point guard to split time with the disgruntled, ego-driven point guard you already have. Their nicknames are Stevie Franchise and Starbury. Your new team ends up with a worse record than last year's by 10 games, with the 2nd worse record in the league. So then your boss offer you $40 mill up front to STOP coaching their team, where you can then go sun tan with iguanas on your own Galapagos Island?

In the words of Don King, this is ludicrous, ridiculous, incredulous, and down right bamboostulous!

If you're Larry Brown, you just made the easiest $30 million dollars ever. It's like he played "Deal or No Deal" where every case was at least 10 million bucks. If you're the owner of the Knicks, you need to pull a "Good Fellas" and tell Isiah Thomas he's a "made man" and then take him to an abandoned restaurant and shoot him.

My question is, why don't they just fire him? Is that the same as buying him out? I just don't get this.

Also, after the buyout, Larry will probably get another coaching job. (ESPN is reporting that they've got a report that reports he's been reported to be linked with the Golden State job, reportedly). So he's gonna get a fat check from that too. It's sickening.

I've heard they are trying to land Ben Gordon too. The proposed trade is Ben Gordon for "one of NY's Elite Guards" and a 1st round draft pick. This actually makes sense for NY, but I can't see Chicago biting on this.
